QUETTA: No breakthrough has yet been made in the search for Balochistan Prosecutor General Abdul Wasey Tareen who went missing on Tuesday while travelling from Quetta to Islamabad.

Mr Tareen and his driver left Quetta for Islamabad via Zhob-Dera Ismail Khan in his car on Tuesday. His last contact was with his son in the evening.

Advocate Sajid Tareen, younger brother of the prosecutor general, said on Friday that no one had so far claimed responsibility for kidnapping or contacted the family.

Security officials said law-enforcement agencies were making all possible efforts to ascertain the whereabouts of Mr Tareen.

Office bearers of Balochistan Bar Association boycotted court proceedings on Friday in protest against the disappearance of Mr Tareen.

A delegation of lawyers held meeting with Balochistan Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Mohammad who assured them that all measures would be taken for the safe recovery of Mr Tareen.

Governor Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has also issued directives in this regard.

The governor called upon lawyers to show restraint and cooperate with the government.
