RAWALPINDI, Jan 22: The district and sessions judge, Dost Mohammad, on Wednesday awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a woman in a drug-trafficking case.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on the convict, Habiba Abdullah. The court announced that the convict would have to undergo another year of jail term, if she failed to pay the fine amount.
The Airport police had arrested the woman following the recovery of eight kilograms of heroin from her luggage when she was trying to board an aircraft for travelling abroad.
The civil judge and judicial magistrate, Hasnain Qadar Ghillo, awarded one and a half year rigorous imprisonment and a Rs10,000 fine to a man for possessing illegal weapons.
The Waris Khan police had arrested Maqbool Hussain and recovered some unlicensed weapons from his possession.
The same court also awarded one year RI to Sheikh Islam, who had been booked by the Waris Khan police for possessing unlicensed weapon.
The civil judge and judicial magistrate, Javedul Hassan Chishti, awarded two moths RI to Yasir Afaq, who had looted a house.
ACQUITTED: The district and sessions judge, Mohammad Akram Awan, acquitted a person of the murder charges as both the parties had reached a reconciliation.
The accused, Ghazanfar Ali, had allegedly killed his son Mohammad Baqir in the jurisdiction of New Town police station. Ghazanfar’s wife was the complainant in this case.
