SANGHAR, Feb 12: A retired bank officer and his daughter were found dead in Khipro city on Tuesday.

Former manager of the Muslim Commercial Bank, Muhammad Achar Mari, about 50, and his daughter Fozia Bano, 20, were axed to death by assailants in their home in Riaz Colony.

Mari’s younger daughter reported the incident after she returned home from school. Mari lived there with his two daughters.

Neighbours said that a few people had been found in the guest room early in the morning.

The motive for the double-murder was unclear, but it is said that Fozia Bano Mari had contracted a free-will marriage with Subhan Katohar in Khairpur about five months ago.

When her clan opposed the marriage, she returned to her parents a few days ago. —BoC
