Lyari Gym in semifinals

KARACHI, Jan 18: Lyari Gymkhana made a triumphant entry into the semifinals of the KCCA Zone III B Division League cricket tournament, after inflicting a 72-run defeat over Young Baloch CC at the Nishter Park on Saturday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Lyari Gymkhana raced to 256 for five wickets in the 35 allotted overs, thanks to a dashing knock of 130 runs by Hameedullah, who plundered three sixes and 12 boundaries.

The other contributors were Jibran Rashid (40) and Sabir Yaqoob (21). Hamidullah grabbed for 80 for the fielding side.

Chasing 247 runs for victory, Young Baloch CC were bowled out for 174 runs in 28 overs, although Mehboob had a sound knock of 90 runs and was helped on by Yousuf Barohi (37) and Rizwan Ahmed (22).

Ghaffar Khan two for 18 and Khalid Khan two for 52, bowled well for Lyari Gymkhana.
