Mohammad Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar are two of the greatest playback singers the subcontinent ever produced. Their credentials are awe-inspiring and both have served not only the film industry but also the world of music. A biography of the late Rafi Saheb written by his daughter-in-law Yasmeen Khalid has hit the newsstands. While a lot of other things mentioned in the book are no less intriguing, the differences that emerged between Rafi and Lata have become the talk of the town. According to the biographer, both singers developed a disagreement over song royalties because of which Lataji did not sing with Rafi Saheb for three years. Hmm… it goes to show that legends are human beings too.
