LAHORE, Feb 1: Four goals by Awais Ahmed and three by Ateeq Ahmed helped PIA earn a massive 11-0 win against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a one-sided match on the fourth day of the National U-21 Hockey Championship in Faisalabad on Friday.

The national carriers had established 11-0 lead in the first half, as KP remained under pressure throughout the 70-minute proceedings.

Awais earned goals in 8th, 9th, 31st and 13th minutes.

Ateeq sounded the board in the 37th, 49th and 68th minutes. Ammad Butt (20th, 53rd) and Nohaiz Malik (57th) and Muzammil (35th) were the other scorers.

In the second match, five-goal Adeel and four by Babar helped Higher Education Commission (HEC) fly high against Balochistan with 18-1 victory.

After leading the first half 6-1, HEC played more offensive game in the second half to completely crush the defence of lowly-rated Balochistan.

Adeel fired goals in the 13th, 45th, 52nd, 62nd and 66th minutes.

Babar got the target in the 24th, 30th, 51st and 63rd minutes. Hassan (60th, 15th), Waseem (25th), Shahryar (28th, 67th), Nadeem (36th, 65th), Sohail (57th) and Fareed (64th) were the other scorers.

Qazi Asfand (20th) was the only scorer for the losers.

Customs also proved too good against Islamabad outshining them 7-1 . At half-time the winners were 2-1 ahead.

Three goals by Ihsan Usman (19th, 50th, 69th) and one each by Mohsin Sabir (40th), Atif Mushtaq (59th), Faisal Khan (59th), Amir Ali (66th) were the scorers.

For Islamabad, the consolation goal came from Saeed Khan in the 25th minute.

In another match, which remained a low scoring one, National Bank of Pakistan carved out a 3-1 win over Punjab Colours.

Dilber Ali (17th), M. Tousiq (57th) and Ayub (62nd) were the scorers for the bankers. Arsalan (54th) reduced the lead for the losing side.
