LAHORE: Temperature to rise

Published January 19, 2003

LAHORE, Jan 18: Partly cloudy weather increased the minimum temperature in Lahore on Saturday besides causing early clearance of fog in the morning.

Though the day’s maximum temperature dropped from Friday’s 14 degrees C to 13.8 degrees C, the chilly weather appeared to have lost its bite. The night’s maximum temperature was 6.3 degrees C against 4 degrees C of the Friday night.

Fog that developed at 11pm on Friday night was not too thick. It kept the visibility to 200 metres almost throughout the night. The visibility started improving after 8am on Saturday and fog was finally cleared at 10am. Afterwards, it remained misty and partly cloudy.

The Met office expected further rise in the temperature because of a partly cloudy weather during the next 24 hours.

The Met office reported rain in some areas of Balochistan including Turbat (20mm), Jeewani (38mm) and Dalbandin (15mm).

It expected light rain with chances of snowfall over the hills in Malakand, Kashmir, Gilgit and Skardu during the next 24 hours.

The minimum temperature in Parachinar was -6 degrees, Dir and Kalam -4, Skardu -3 and Astore -2 degrees C.
