ISLAMABAD: The coalition government has decided to dissolve the national and provincial assemblies before March 15, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said, adding that the dissolution would be followed by the general elections in May, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives, the chief of the Pakistan Muslim League - Quaid (PML-Q) said the decisions in this regard were made by leaders of parties part of the Pakistan People's Party-led coalition government.

Hussain said the participants of the meeting had agreed upon holding the general polls in May and the dissolution of the provincial and national assemblies would take place before March 15.

Moreover, he said Tahirul Qadri, chief of the Tehrik-i-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) would also be taken into confidence regarding the dissolution of assemblies. Shujaat said the PML-Q had consulted President Asif Ali Zardari in this regard.
