AHMEDABAD, Jan 16: At least 15 people were wounded in communal violence during a kite festival in Gujarat state on Wednesday.

Two groups of rioters attacked each other with crude bombs and stones in several places, including Ahmedabad and Baroda, they said.

“Most of the clashes were the result of arguments and altercations related to flying kites,” a senior police official said. Police had to open fire and use teargas to disperse rival mobs in several places. .—Reuters
