CHARSADDA, Jan 14: Hidayatullah Umarzai, brother of former MPA Alamzeb Umarzai, has termed nomination of his two brothers in FIR concerning attack on Awami National Party’s former provincial minister Bashir Khan Umarzai political victimisation.

Addressing a press conference at his residence, Mr Hidayatullah stated on oath that his brothers – Khurshid Umarzai and Arshad Umarzai – had no connection with the remote-controlled blast on motorcade of the former ANP minister. He appealed to the chief justice of Pakistan, president and prime minister to intervene in the matter and save his family from the wrath of the influential family.

He demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident through a judge of the Supreme Court. He said that they had enmity with Mr Umarzai, but added that they had no links with the bomb attack.

He said that after appearing in the local court on the day of hearing of their case Bashir Umarzai left under a police escort. Mr Hidayatullah said that after his (Bashir) departure they too left the court premises under police escort. He said that they were in Tarangazai area when they knew about the blast and the police escort was witness to this.

Mr Hidayatullah said that his two brothers nominated in the FIR were present at their hujra at the time of the blast and additional SHO Omair Rehman, sub-inspector Nabi and elite force personnel were witnesses to this.

He said that his family and the Qaumi Watan Party had condemned the attack, for which Taliban had already accepted responsibility. He claimed that his brothers were nominated in the FIR on the directives of the ANP-led provincial government and that too on political ground. —Correspondent
