LAHORE, Jan 13: Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Aslam Tareen has ordered stern departmental action against the police officers and officials who fail to solve people’s problems.
He was reviewing the annual performance of the complaint cell set up at the CCPO office.
The cell in-charge said 7,452 complaints had been lodged against police officials and others during 2012 by citizens, 662 applications were referred by the prime minister, CPLC and army, 1,539 by the chief minister, 3,297 by the Punjab IG, 239 by chief secretary, 82 by home secretary and 152 by the commissioner and district coordination officer.
The cell had received 13,426 complaints in response to which cases were registered and problems of the people solved in 4,806 cases. Similarly, investigations of cases were transferred on 111 applications, cases disposed of on 304 applications and punishment awarded to policemen and officials on 179 applications. Moreover, 2,012 applications proved bogus and conciliation was made on 1,251 applications.
Around 2,040 applications had been rejected due to non-pursuance, 990 were such that the police could not interfere in, 449 filed due to wrong and incomplete addresses, while 1,284 applications were still pending.
