ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: The Army Promotion Board announced on Friday the promotion of four major generals to the rank of lieutenant general.

The four major generals are Major General Maqsood Ahmad, Major General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Major Ganeral Syed Wajid Hussain, Major General Najib Ullah Khan.

Major Gen Maqsood, who is from infantry, is currently serving in the ISI as a director general.

Major Gen Zubair Hayat is from artillery and is at present General Officer Commanding, Sialkot.

Maj Gen Wajid Hussain is Commandant School of Armour, Nowshehra. He is from armoured corps.Maj Gen Najib Ullah is posted as General Officer Commanding, Kharian. He previously served as director general of the Frontier Works Organisation and is from corps of engineers.

Three positions that will fall vacant due to retirement of the incumbents are Chief of General Staff (CGS), Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) and Engineer-in-Chief.

Filling of these positions will cause a reshuffle in the army’s top brass.
