RAWALPINDI, Jan 15: One person was killed, while eight others were injured in a head-on collision between a car and a passenger wagon at Kalar Syedan on Wednesday, police said.

According to the police, a wagon (RPT-4946) destined for Rawalpindi collided with a car (RIY-3) coming from the opposite direction.

The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Rawalpindi, where the wagon driver, Aurangzeb, expired.

The other injured were identified as Riaz Abbas, Sheraz Hassan, Mohammad Ismail, Mohammad Nazeer, Tauqeer, Abdul Qadeer, Tariq and Naheed.

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the police.

Meanwhile, the Gungmandi police found a body of an unidentified man, believed to have been tortured to death and later set on fire, hospital authorities said.

The deceased, seems to be in his 30s, was found dead on Tuesday night at Bagh Sardaran and shifted to the DHQ hospital for autopsy.
