Politics in Pakistan

Published January 10, 2013

THIS refers to the photograph of a British ex-minister holding a bicycle as his sole source of transport. I wish it were so in Pakistan, a poor country, where when one joins a ministry, his entire relatives, even distant ones, enjoy official cars of supreme quality for a long time.

Here politics is not, in most cases, to serve the nation but to evade tax, misappropriate, and hoard money. Here politics is investment to earn in the future. Have our ruling politicians learnt a lesson from this picture?
