KARACHI: The Supreme Court is set to start proceedings in the contempt of court case against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Monday, DawnNews reported.

The MQM chief and deputy convener of the party’s Rabita Committee Dr Farooq Sattar, who is also a Member of National Assembly (MNA), had been summoned by the court on Jan 7.

MQM leaders will represent party chief Altaf Hussain in the latter's contempt of court case.

Under the leadership of Dr Farooq Sattar, members of the party's Rabita Committee, including Raza Haroon, Wasay Jalil, Nasreen Jalil and Saghir Ahmed will be present in court.

Other MQM political figures who will attend the Supreme Court hearing will be 51 Sindh Assembly members, 25 National Assembly members and Seven senators. MQM party members from Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also attend the court proceedings.
