SIALKOT, Jan 14: The Punjab government will establish job banks at district level under the supervision of human resource boards, besides a central job bank at provincial level for giving necessary guidance to jobless people.
This was stated by provincial minister for labour and human resources Akhtar Husain Rizvi while speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday.
The minister said there would be no downsizing in the Labour and Human Resources Department, however, incompetent and corrupt employees would be sacked. The required paper work had been completed in this regard, he said.
He said a resource centre had also been established for the elimination of child labour. Efforts were being made for developing healthy relations between employers and employees for ensuring smooth and peaceful industrialization.
He said one social security hospital each would be established in Daska and Pasrur for providing better health facilities to labourers and industrial workers. The Sialkot labour colony project would be completed in March, he said.
The government would soon start computer education for the children of labourers and industrial workers, he said.
CONCERN: Trade bodies, including the local chamber of commerce and industry, have condemned the police failure in ridding the district of heinous crime.
At a meeting held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of chamber president Babar Iqbal, all trade bodies expressed their dissatisfaction over the police performance. They said the police had failed in providing protection to exporters and industrialists.
They said the local business community was feeling insecurity as no efforts had so far been made by the police to providing them protection. They urged police highups to ensure implementation of the code of conduct by the Sialkot police.
The SCCI and the All-Trade Bodies Alliance announced that they would launch a protest drive against police atrocities and the law and order situation. They also threatened to come on the road against the police misbehaviour.
