RAJANPUR, Jan 13: Umarkot SHO sustained serious injuries on Monday in a 10-hour long shootout with proclaimed offenders in the Kutcha area at Chak Umrani.

Acting on a tip-off that some 20 POs were present in Kutcha area, the DPO along with 80 policemen of different police stations of the district besieged the area. Taking in the situation, the outlaws armed with sophisticated weapons opened fire and also hurled rockets on police.

The Kutcha area, mostly camouflaged by tall bushes, provides a safe haven for the outlaws. The shootout between the police and POs continued from 6am to 4pm in which the Umarkot SHO received bullet wounds. The police had to return empty-handed as the outlaws made themselves scare.
