ISLAMABAD, Jan 13: Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, after taking an oath on Monday as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan, said he was sworn in under the 1973 Constitution, but declined to comment if the superior courts judges would be administered a fresh oath after the revival of the Constitution.

Justice Qazi Mohammad Farooq administered the oath to Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the senior most judge of the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Shaikh Riaz Ahmad, Justice Munir A. Shaikh and Justice Nazim Hussain Siddiqui, along with two other high court judges, have gone to London to attend the first Judicial Conference on Child and Family Laws. They will return after a week.

Talking to newsmen, Acting Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said the country was passing through a period of change, and when the transfer of power would be complete everything would be clear.

He said he was not aware of any letter of the chief justice written to the president with regard to the fresh oath of judges.
