LAHORE, Dec 23: Two people, including a woman, were shot dead and three others injured in two incidents on Sunday.

Sundar police said a 23-year-old man was killed while his mother, a brother and a sister were injured in a firing incident in Loharanwala Khu.

The police said accused Pervaiz accompanied by four accomplices went to his in-laws to convince his estranged wife to return with him.

When she refused, Pervaiz exchanged harsh words with his in-laws and opened fire that left his brothers-in-law, Allah Ditta, and Arshad Ali, mother-in-law Jameela and wife Riaz Bibi injured. They were shifted to a hospital where Ditta succumbed to his wounds. The suspects fled the scene.

Kahna police said 28-year-old Shazia was clubbed to death allegedly by her stepson, Nasir, at her house in Muslim Park area.

The police said the accused attacked the woman, a mother of three, when she was alone at home. Her husband Jameel was out of city. The woman succumbed to her wounds at a hospital.

Her family told the police the suspect killed Shazia on the instructions of his mother.

ROBBERIES: Robbers shot at and wounded a constable and looted cash and valuables worth Rs2 million in four major hits in the city on Sunday.

Two robbers approached Constable Jamshaid of the Flying Squad in Baghbanpura police station limits and tried to loot cash and valuables.

The suspects opened fire on the victim on facing resistance and fled.

Some armed men barged in the house of Dr Akram in Garhi Shahu police station jurisdiction and escaped after looting cash and valuables worth Rs600,000.

Some gunmen stormed into the house of Riaz in Shahdara police station limits and escaped after looting cash and valuables worth Rs500,000.

Robbers barged in the house of Faryad in Kahna police station remit and made off with jewellery and prize bonds worth Rs500,000.

Some armed men burst into the house of Aslam within the remit of the Hanjarwal police station and escaped with cash and valuables worth Rs400,000.
