QUETTA, Dec 21: Nawabzada Mir Tariq Ali Magsi, younger brother of Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi, has been notified as the ‘opposition leader’ in the provincial assembly with effect from December 18.

Nawabzada Tariq Ali Magsi was elected member of Balochistan Assembly from Kachhi area of district Gandawah in by-elections.

The seat fell vacant after the appointment of Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi as governor by President Asif Ali Zardari.

However, after October 12 interim order of the apex court, Mir Tariq Magsi submitted an application to allot him a seat on opposition benches. Speaker Aslam Bhootani accepted his application.

Balochistan Assembly had been running without an opposition leader for the last four years.
