PESHAWAR, Dec 21: The website of Peshawar High Court was hacked by unidentified hackers Friday evening and computer experts of the court succeeded in recovering the site late in the night.

The hackers, apparently Indian, have defaced the site and pasted a message; “Indian hackers own this box.” Giving a reference of Mumbai attacks of 2008, the message further states: “Never forget 26/11 and rest in peace victims of 26/11.”

An official of the court told Dawn that Chief Justice Dost Mohammad Khan and other officials had taken notice of the issue, directing computer experts of the court to recover the website at the earliest.

He said that the experts reached the high court and recovered the site.

The website (Peshawarhighcourt.gov.pk.) was launched by the court a few years ago and it carried valuable information for visitors.

It carries details about the cases fixed for hearing as well as day-to-day details about progress in the cases. Furthermore, important events, details about the judges of the high court and subordinate judiciary are also given.
