KOHAT/NOWSHERA, Dec 16: Unidentified terrorists blew up the building of PTCL exchange in Lachi town of Kohat district in the small hours of Sunday.

Police said that terrorists planted explosives at the boundary wall of the telephone exchange building and blew it up. The blast damaged the boundary wall and the building. Nobody was injured in the explosion, they said.

Police and the bomb disposal squad reached the spot soon after the incident and collected evidence. Police registered a case against unidentified terrorists.

In Nowshera, two CD shops were blown up in two separate blasts on the night between Saturday and Sunday.

In the first incident, a CD shop near the passenger coaches stand on Cavalry Road in Nowshera Cantonment was blow up by unidentified militants. The blast was so powerful that it caused minor damage to seven nearby shops and a hotel, police said.

Saadat Ali, the owner of the shop, said that the blast inflicted a loss of about Rs500,000 on him. He said that he had set up the shop one year ago.

In the second incident, militants destroyed a CD and audio cassette shop at the main bazaar of Nowshera Cantonment.

Mohammad Javed, the owner of the shop, said that he had not received any threat. He said that the shop was destroyed completely in the blast, inflicting a loss of Rs2,100,000 to Rs2,500,000 on him.

Both the blast occurred simultaneously.

Wajid Ali, a local resident, said that the powerful blasts shook all buildings in the area.

He added that the explosions were heard far and wide.

Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

However, no arrest was made.

The officials of bomb disposal squad said that about five kilograms of explosives were used in both the explosions.

They said that the bombs were detonated through remote control devices.
