KARACHI: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) held Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to a 2-2 draw in a bad-tempered Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) match that saw two sending-offs and seven yellow cards at the KPT Football Stadium here on Sunday.

KPT’s Mohammad Waseem was sent off in the 72nd minute while PAF’s Amir Khan also saw red in the match that featured three penalties and a plethora of flying challenges.

Mohammad Sher handed PAF the lead in the second minute from the penalty spot and Irfan Ali’s 17th minute strike put them in a commanding position, but KPT levelled matters near the end of the first-half with Akhtar Mamol netting with a spot-kick.

The second-half was less about goals but more about reckless challenges.

KPT were reduced to ten men when Waseem was given his second yellow card of the match but they showed great resilience to draw a penalty from PAF goalkeeper Abdul Aziz in the 87th, who was also shown a yellow card.

Mamol stepped yet again to dispatch the penalty with ease before a fracas erupted deep in injury time that saw PAF forward Amir being sent off and KPT goalkeeper Sajid Hussain cautioned.

KPT moved to 21 points from as many games while third-placed PAF have 50 from 26 games.

The other match here at the PNS Karsaz Ground was a relatively calmer affair as Pakistan Navy overcame Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) 2-0 to take their points tally to 26 from 24 games.

Mohammad Sajjad opened the scoring in the 15th minute before defender Mohammad Ramzan popped up in the penalty box in the 66th minute to seal all three points for Navy.
