THIS refers to the news item ‘Chinese experts being harassed in Badin’ (Nov 30).

According to the report, a team of foreign experts carrying out surveys to ease out energy crisis in the country were not only harassed but their expensive equipment was damaged in order to create obstacles in their way and stop them from continuing their work on the projects.

The complaint was reportedly conveyed to the Sindh chief secretary by the Chinese team led by the commercial counsellor.

How embarrassing it is that the district administration, security administration and the political leadership of the ruling party failed to take necessary and appropriate remedial measures, and the Chinese team had to approach the highest chief executive of administration for help.

According to the report, the situation has caused a colossal loss and worsened to such an alarming point that the Chinese experts consider it almost impossible to continue work.

On the one hand, we are faced with economic, social and law and order problems and, on the other hand, we harass those friends who come to help us. It is time we realised our responsibilities, ensured safety, security and well-being of our well-wishers and display dignity and honour through our behaviour.
