QUETTA, Dec 4: A couple and their two children suffocated in Sariab road area of the provincial capital on Tuesday.

Police sources said the incident took place in Khalifa colony when the family was asleep with their gas heater on.

Apparently, the continued burning of the heater caused a shortage of oxygen in their room.

The neighbours noticed that there was no activity in the house till afternoon.

They informed the police, who broke open the door of the bedroom, only to find four members of the family dead.

Police said there was no ventilation and the lack of oxygen caused the death of the family.

The dead were Mohammad Naeem, his wife and two children identified as two-year-old Samiullah and one-year-old Ayesha Bibi.

It was the second incident involving death because of gas suffocation in the city.

A woman and his son died two days ago in similar conditions.
