KARACHI, Nov 26: The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) and the National Tariff Commission (NTC) have received fresh complaints from the downstream industry against the manufacturer of PET resin for stopping the supply of their raw material.

However, the manufacturer of PET resin, M/s Novatex, pleaded that they were unable to keep the supply of their product (PET resin) because the supply of PTA which is their raw material was stopped by the local manufacturer due to closure of their plant. The complainants have accused M/s Novatex for being selective in supplying PET resin to manufacturers of preforms.

Both the regulators are presently processing the earlier complaint gathering information and seeking the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) input on the case.

The sources said that the decision to keep the new complaint separate or make it part of the main complaint lodged earlier will be made after the contents of all the documents and information related to the case are compiled by the commission’s officer. The NTC spokesman stated that it has yet to decide if the fresh application will be handled separately or included in the main complaint lodged earlier.
