ISLAMABAD, Nov 26: Another tracker company was booked on charges of providing false information about the movement of a stolen car, police said on Monday.

Investigation Officer of the case, Mohammad Akram, told Dawn that the company was booked under PPC section 406.

Contrary to the tracker company’s claim that its device could not be jammed, the thieves made it non-functional, he added.

According to police, when the victim of car theft, Rana Usman, found his Toyota Altis missing from I-10 Markaz he approached the police and the tracking company to get their help in tracing the vehicle.

He remained in touch with the company’s employ Mohsin but who misguided him and the police about the location of the vehicle, the IO said.

He said that first he informed the police and the owner of the car that the vehicle was in street 9 in Sector I-10/3, but when the police reached there it was not there.

For more than five hours, the tracker company kept misguiding the owner and the police, he said.

Finally, the company told the owner that the thieves had made the tracking device non-functional.

At this, the victim lodged complaints against the car thieves and the tracker company.

He in its complaint said the company had sold its product to him with the claim that it could not be jammed.

The IO said that no arrest had been made as yet but legal action would be taken against the company and its officials.

Rana Usman, the owner of the car, said that his vehicle was stolen at 7:04am and the company officials misguided him till 4pm and then informed him that their system could not keep track of his vehicle.

Mian Mohsin, the security head of Satellite Tracking Company, said the police and the victim were informed about the location of the vehicle, but they failed to trace it.

Later, the thieves activated their jammers which made their device non-functional, he said.
