Cricket fans

Published November 25, 2012

THE daily Hindu (Nov 11) has reported that Pakistani cricket fans wishing to watch cricket matches in India in December must have an Indian sponsor to get visas.

In 2007, out of the scores of Pakistani fans who had gone to see the cricket matches, seven had disappeared and did not return to Pakistan. They are yet to be traced.

How would the Indian authorities grant visas to senior citizens at the border checkposts? According to the recent agreement between the two countries, it will be just ratified by the Pakistani cabinet. They may not have a sponsor either.
