KHULNA: Bangladesh on Friday dropped paceman Shahadat Hossain and opener Nazimuddin for the first two one-day internationals against the West Indies, relying more on youngsters.

The 14-man squad for the first two of five-match series – to be played in Khulna on November 30 and December 2 – will be captained by Mushfiqur Rahim.

Middle-order batsman Naeem Islam, who scored a century in the first Test last week, and off-spinner Sohag Gazi, who took nine wickets on debut in Dhaka, were rewarded for their good performances.

Fast bowler Abul Hasan, who on Wednesday became only the second debutant in Test cricket's history to record a century on debut while batting at number 10, is also part of the one-day squad.

Paceman Rubel Hossain returns to the one-day side after missing the limited over matches this year because of a shoulder injury. Also returning to the squad is paceman Mashrafe Mortaza who missed the ongoing Tests because of injury.

Young batsman Anamul Haque is also included after his impressive batting in the Junior World Cup held in Australia earlier this year.

Squad:

Mushfiqur Rahim (captain), Mohammad Mahmudullah, Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Jahirul Islam, Naeem Islam, Shakib Al Hasan, Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Abdur Razzak, Abul Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shafiul Islam.
