LAHORE, Nov 22: CIA Iqbal Town police claim to have arrested nine members of two inter-district dacoit gangs, including ringleaders, and recovered motorcycles, laptops, mobile phones, cash and weapons from their possession.

CIA DSP Anwar Saeed Kingra said the ringleader of one gang, Naveed alias Needu, had recently killed a citizen, Abdul Rasheed, during a street crime in Narowal.

He said all the nine criminals were fully professional and had looted houses and citizens in Narowal, Sheikhupura and Gujrat. They later came to Lahore and started criminal activities particularly in Faisal Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Hanjarwal, Sabzazar and Bund Road.

The DSP said on the information of a sharp increase in the street crime in these areas, Investigation DIG Chaudhry Shafiq directed the CIA SP to constitute teams for the arrest of the criminals.After hectic efforts of weeks, he said the CIA police arrested the outlaws later identified as Naveed, Naveed Ali, Shafqat, Waqar (ringleader of the second gang), Muhamamd Umar, Imran Haider, Muhammad Imran, Asghar and Bilal alias Machi.

The police claimed to have recovered six motorbikes, 11 laptops, 14 mobile phones and illegal weapons from their possession.

They were sent to jail several times, but after getting released, they continued their activities without any hesitation, Kingra said.
