KARACHI, Nov 22: Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed declared emergency in all public sector hospitals across the province on Thursday.

While presiding over a meeting held to review arrangements made by government hospitals to deal with any emergency situation in Karachi and other parts of the province, the minister gave directions that hospitals stock up on medicines and keep reserve staff ready from Friday to Sunday (Muharram 8 to 10).

He also asked senior doctors, including senior physicians and surgeons, to remain on call and immediately respond in case of emergency.

He directed medical superintendents of government hospitals and the heads of emergency and casualty departments to report to him immediately if there was any shortage of essential medicines or other relevant items. —APP/PPI
