BAHAWALPUR, Jan 7: Police have registered a case against eight students of the Anjuman Talaba Islam (ATI) for allegedly attacking students of their rival group, the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT).

The case against Shahid Solangi, Muhammad Amin, Saeed Kahlon, Mahr Ghulam Sarwar, Ehsan Rasul, Asif Rasul, Rasul Shah and Saeed of local college has been registered on the complaint of IJT, who alleged in their complaint that the accused opened fire on them last night and their class fellow Ghazanfar Ghaffar was seriously injured.

He is in serious condition in the BVH. No arrest has so far been made.

JI leaders have urged the police to arrest the accused who belong to the ATI.

Meanwhile, the Civil Lines police on Tuesday arrested 12 people, including six women, on the charge of assaulting a police party and injuring two constables, Muhammad Rafiq and Shahbaz.

According to the police, a party headed by an ASI had gone to the house of Mst Wazeeran at Bindra Basti to arrest Abdul Rehman, a PO. The alleged accused, including the women, attacked the police party and freed the wanted man.
