ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Thursday said that Pakistan Peoples Party government after coming into power made efforts for bringing improvement for the betterment of this country.

Talking to a private television channel, he said that Pakistan Peoples Party government after coming into power took steps for reducing inflation, energy crisis and improving taxation.

Qamar Zaman Kaira said that people who are earning, they should pay the tax for the betterment of the country.

He said that Pakistan is confronted with a number of challenges including terrorism and extremism.

He said that terrorism and extremism is not an indigenous product.

Replying to a question, he said that some institutions in the past had been trying to eliminate the Pakistan Peoples Party.

Replying to another question, he said that accountability should be for every person.

To a question, he said that Pakistan Peoples Party government had given various suggestions for overcoming the energy crisis in the country.

He said “It was the responsibility of the provincial governments to take measures by following the suggestions of the central government taken for overcoming the energy problem.”

The Information Minister said that all the institutions should work under their defined parameters.

Commending the role of the leadership of PPP, he said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto sacrificed their lives for this country.

He said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto initiated the atomic process while Shaheed Benazir Bhutto made efforts for its delivery system.

Replying to another question regarding defence budget, he said that country is confronted with challenges and adding that curtailing the budget in this scenario would not be logical.

Kaira said that present leadership is promoting democracy in the country.

The Minister said that philosophy of Pakistan Peoples Party is to resolve the problems of the poor masses.

He said that like other parties, Pakistan Peoples Party will also present its manifesto before the general election.
