CHAKWAL, Nov 15: A man and a robber were killed, and two persons were injured, in a robbery in Bheen Village in Dhudial police area on Wednesday night.

Dr. Sajjad Ahmad, who ran a clinic in his village, had just reached home at 8:30pm on Wednesday and was opening the gate when he was ambushed by four robbers.

The robbers dragged him to the courtyard, while the doctor’s family members, noticing the scene, locked the grille fixed at the opening of the veranda. One of Dr. Sajjad’s daughters phoned her uncles who lived 3km away and told them about the incident.

When the robbers threatened to kill the doctor, the family members opened the grille and the robbers started plundering the house at gun point.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sajjad’s two brothers, Mohammad Ijaz and Mohammad Nawaz, and his nephew Mehmood, reached the scene. A fierce brawl took place in which Mohammad Ijaz, Mohammad Nawaz and Mehmood got injured by the robbers’ firing while a robber was killed in retaliatory firing.

The other robbers fled the scene with mobile phones, Rs5,000 cash and other valuables.

The three injured persons were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital from where Mohammad Ijaz and Mohammad Nawaz were referred to Rawalpindi due to their critical condition.

Mohammad Ijaz succumbed to his injuries en route to Rawalpindi while Mohammad Nawaz was reported to be in stable condition after an operation.

After the incident, a police team from Dhudial Police Station reached the scene and collected the evidence.
