LAHORE, Nov 10: Pakistan on Saturday thrashed Nepal 15-0 in the baseball event of the Punjab International Youth Festival at Model Town ground.

Sumair Zawar was the pick of the home team with three scores, followed by two runs each from Asif Mushtaq, Usman Azim, Umair Bhatti, Zubair Nawaz and Zaheer Bashir. Ahsan Baig shared one run apiece. Pakistan Baseball Federation Secretary Syed Khawar Shah was the chief guest.

In international football, Yemen defeated Mongolia 1-0 at the Punjab Stadium. The first half was goalless as Yemen struck the winner in the 61st minute through Akram Ali who cashed in on a solo effort. The first half was a dull one but there were some good moves seen in the second half.

In international Ju-jitsu, Pakistan ended the day with two victories to maintain its fine run in the event. Asim Moeen and Mohammad Ali led their country to success in their respective bouts. Asim beat So Sang Boem of South Korea and Mohammad Ali carved out win against Husain Mohammed of Iraq. Yang Hyengju defeated Ajbekov of Kyrgyzstan. Yasan Ali Nabizo of Iran outplayed Siaf Khuder of Iraq.

In kabaddi, two matches were decided in which Pakistan (Punjab) and Indian Punjab fashioned out victories against their respective rivals. Pakistan Punjab defeated Afghanistan 73-40. For the winners, Imtiaz Alam, M. Ashfaq, Khalid Bhatti, Akmal Dogar, Waqas Butt, Rana Naeem, Mohsin Naseer, Mansha, Neeem Jutt, Asif Mola, Waqas Gujjar, Arslan Aslam Dogar and Saifullah were the main scorers.

Indian Punjab defeated Nepal 47-20. The main scorers for the winning side were Sukhveer Singh, Gorlal Singh, Sukhder Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Gagnandeep Singh, Malvinder Singh, Harjinder Singh, Guwinder Singh, Gurjeet Singh, Balraj Singh, Yadwinder Singh, Vilveer Singh, Gurjeet Singh and Balram Singh.

Meanwhile, Pakistan beat India in the Deaf and Dumb Dosti Cup. Pakistan also won the events of cricket, table tennis, badminton and chess. In cricket, Pakistan defeated India by 29 runs at Iqbal Park Sports Complex to whitewash the three-match series.

Pakistan outplayed India by 29 runs in the last match to maintain winning streak as it had won the first two matches by 29 and 40 runs. Batting first, Pakistan posted a total of 124 for two wickets in the allotted 12 overs. Kashif (43 not out) and Shafqat (42) were the key scorers. Indian medium-pacer Tirth and Sandeep earned one wicket each for 21 and 19 runs.

In reply Indian side was restricted to 95 for 5 in the allotted overs. Man-of-the-match pacer Mohammad Umer ripped apart their innings with deadly bowling, finishing with four for 11 runs in just two overs.

In table tennis, Pakistan beat India 3-0 winning their both singles and double tie. However in the badminton, the Indian players offered little resistance before the home team overcame their challenge 2-1, winning the single and double matches, but losing the reverse single.

Meanwhile, in the national-level contest, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan teams reached the final at the Punjab Stadium. While KPK defeated Punjab 2-0 with Gulfraz and Rafique the scorers, Balochistan edged out Fata 2-1 to qualify for the final. Mohammad Hussain and Aminullah struck a goal each for Balochistan.
