KARACHI, Nov 8: Participants in a meeting of the joint committee of chairmen of various educational boards of Sindh on Thursday decided that the boards should follow a uniform direction.

Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) chairman Prof Anwar Ahmed Zai, who is also the chairman of the joint committee, presided over the meeting.

The participants in the meeting called for looking into the implementation of various changes suggested by the educational boards’ controlling authority, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, in an earlier meeting.

The chief minister had asked for uniformity among all educational boards in the province and Sindh Governor Dr Ishtratul Ibad had specially formed the committee of all the boards’ chairmen for the implementation of such changes.

The committee on Thursday agreed that the calendars and regulations should be made uniform for which each board chairman would now present the plan to his respective institution’s board of governors for approval.

There was also a suggestion for reducing examination centres in favour of a main centre at all districts and a survey work in this connection had already begun.

The committee agreed to meet again in the next session with reports of what their respective boards thought about these issues.

It was also mentioned that all officers associated with any educational board must complete a management and administrative training course.

Meanwhile, all the boards were also advised to form their own websites and follow in the footsteps of the BIEK in setting more than one version of examination papers to reduce chances of cheating among students.

The websites should upload the answers two hours after an examination, it was suggested.

Board of Secondary Education Karachi chairman Fasihuddin Khan, Sindh Board of Technical Education chairman Prof Saeed Ahmed Siddiqui, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad chairman Prof Abdul Aleem Khanzada, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sukkur chairman Ghulam Mujtaba Shah, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Mirpukhas chairman Shafiq Ahmed Khan and Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Larkana chairman Dawood Memon attended the meeting.
