LAHORE, Nov 5: Ms Nadia Saqib, a DMG officer, on Monday resumed her duty as Raiwind assistant commissioner and Allama Iqbal Town administrator after the city district administration asked her to continue her service.

Ms Saqib had quit two posts recently after she got registered cases against a contractor and his accomplices for overcharging and extorting money from transporters at Raiwind Bus Stand.

Officials said owing to some misunderstanding about the situation, the Lahore commissioner issued a notification, directing Ms Saqib to hand over the charge of town administrator to another official.

They said as soon as the officer heard about the notification, she voluntarily relinquished the dual charge as a protest. But later some senior city district government officials briefed the commissioner about the real situation on which the notification was withdrawn by the administration.

FINED: Following the city district administration’s direction, the District Road Transportation Authority (DRTA) on Monday imposed fine on as many as 50 transporters for overcharging.

The DRTA secretary also got returned the overcharged fare to various passengers, says a press release.
