LAHORE: Tayyab Sohail, a secretary of one of the warring groups of the Punjab Badminton Association, has said that since there is no badminton body affiliated with the Pakistan Olympic Association, Pakistan cannot send a badminton team to the SAF Games next year.

In a press release, Tayyab said that t as it doesn’t have at least three provincial associations or as many departments as its affiliated units.

When Gill elected as PBF head in the December 2010 elections in Islamabad, only one provincial badminton association — from Sindh — took part in it while associations from Punjab and Balochistan had staged a boycott.

Tayyab also claimed that the World Badminton Federation does not recognise the Gill-led federation.
