MITHI, Nov 4: Four people were arrested and booked on Saturday for buying and transporting a pair of rare bird.

Anayat Manganhar, Mohan, Ali Nawaz Khoso and Ahmed Bajir were rounded up near Gori village in Nagarparkar taluka by two wildlife officials, who were accompanied by Rangers. The suspects had bought the fawn pair in Vinjho Kolhi village near Ramji jo Wadhio, the officials said.

A case against them was registered at the wildlife station in Nagarparkar on a complaint lodged by a wildlife activist, Mohammad Umer Daal, who said that he had received information about the suspects’ travel to Harho village near the Indian border with intention to fetch fawns. Mr Daal said he contacted the Rangers personnel, who intercepted them and seized the birds.

The vehicle (GS-2211) carrying the bird species, already declared endangered and prohibited to be poached, were seized and the suspects were arrested. The birds were yet to be brought to Mithi.
