KARACHI, Nov 3: District South Greens made a post interval comeback to beat District Malir 39-37 in a nail-biting match on the opening day of the sixth NBP Inter-district basketball tournament which commenced at Arambagh floodlit court on Friday evening.

The winners, who trailed 20-23 at half time, fought back in the game with brisk scoring to turn the tables on their opponents.

Adnan was the main architect of triumph with 15 and was ably supported by Abdullah and Zain who contributed six apiece.

Subhan was the only player of the losing side who finished in double figures with 14. Ali Raza and Furqan were the other scorers with seven and six respectively.

Earlier, district South Whites registered convincing 45-23 victory over district Central Greens. The winners led 24-12 at half time.

Ahad Javeri and Ali Ahmed shone with 12 and 10 respectively for the winning outfit while Mahad Tariq scored 10 for losers.

Muzammil (14), Talha (13) guided district East Greens thump district West 47-40 after enjoying 29-25 lead at the breather.

In the other match, district Central Whites overcame district East Whites 45-32 with Talha Amjad emerging top scorer with 20 followed by Shabbar 11 and Ali eight. —Sports Correspondent
