TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 4: Mirza Munir Ahmad Shakil was elected to the office of vice-president of the district bar association (DBA) on Saturday.

He had no opponents left in the field when the nomination of Qamarul Haq Bhatti was rejected by the election board. Another candidate, Mohammad Ali Khan, had withdrawn his nomination papers.

Chaudhry Ziauddin and Chaudhry Mohammad Anwaar are in the run for the office of president, Chaudhry Iqbal Hashim and Farrukh Iqbal for that of general secretary and Chaudhry Aurangzeb and Basharat Ali for that of joint secretary. Saleem Raza Awan and Abdul Habib want to be the finance secretary, Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam and Naeem Akthar the auditor and Naseeruddin Humayun and Zafaru Rehman the librarian.

The elections will be held on Jan 11.
