KARACHI: A judicial magistrate reissued on Thursday warrants for the arrest of two doctors in an unintentional murder case.

Medical superintendent of the Civil Hospital Karachi Dr Saeed Qureshi, Dr Sana Murad, Dr Rabia and Dr Sana Agha have been booked for allegedly showing negligence during treatment which caused the death of 14-year-old Neha at the CHK in April this year.

On a previous hearing, the court issued warrants for their arrest.

Appearing before the court of a judicial magistrate (south) on Thursday, Dr Qureshi informed it that he obtained interim pre-arrest bail from a sessions court. The counsel for Dr Rabia, who was also on bail, informed the court that she was abroad and requested that her absence be condoned.

The other two suspects remained absent and magistrate Nadeem Badir Qazi reissued arrest warrants for them till Nov 22.

According to the prosecution, the girl died in April a few days after her admission to the hospital due to alleged negligence of doctors.

While an investigation officer had requested the court in May to cancel the case as no solid evidence had been found against the suspects, the court rejected the request and told him to file a list of witnesses.

The case (FIR No 91/2012) was lodged on a complaint of the patient’s father at the Eidgah police station under Sections 319 (unintentional murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
