SUKKUR, Oct 30: Five people from the Mugheri community were booked by the Jacobabad police for their alleged involvement in the killing of a labourer named Shaman Ali Rahujo because of a tribal dispute incited by a free-will marriage.

The case was registered in Saddar police station on Tuesday night by Shaman’s uncle, Muhammad Salah Rahujo. Those nominated in the FIR include Abdullah Mugheri, Jam Mugheri and Salahoo Mugheri.

According to the FIR, the men from the Mugheri community opened fire at 30-year-old Shaman near Bolan Petrol Pump in Jacobabad on Monday night. Shaman was critically injured while the attackers fled from the scene.

Relatives and neighbours took Shaman to Civil hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was laid to rest in the local graveyard near Bhittai Town.

According to Shaman’s father, Sawali Rahujo, a woman from the Mugheri community had eloped with a man from Rahujo community and  married to him, causing an enmity to erupt between the two clans. The matter had been almost settled by negotiations between the two communities but the Mugheris became angry when the woman’s family wasn’t paid according to their agreement.

Shaman’s father said that their family had no relations with the man who eloped with the Mugheri woman, Moosa Rahujo.
