QUETTA, Oct 22: The Balochistan High Court hearing a case relating to alleged irregularities in the selection of candidates by the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) allowed the National Accountability Bureau on Monday to continue with its inquiry against the BPSC officials.

A division bench comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel and Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mengal announced the verdict on a petition filed by the BPSC chairman challenging the investigation by NAB.

The court said the petition had been partly accepted and the inquiry initiated by the NAB director general on Oct 1 was permissible against the officials of up to grade-20.

“The people of Balochistan expect a fair and transparent inquiry into the matter and, therefore, the NAB director general should personally supervise it and, if needed, he may depute a competent and honest investigator so as to enable the court to bring the culprits to justice,” the court said in its order. On Sept 27, NAB officials raided the BPSC office and took into possession the record of examinations.
