SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 20: Saddar police arrested on Saturday five members of a family on charges of beating up a polio team at Mirza Virkan Village.

On Friday, a team consisting of Kalsoom Bibi, Nasreen Begum, Habib, Asghar and Ali Raza visited the house of Allah Rakha at Mirza Virkan to administer polio vaccine.

The owner of the house along with his two sons and wife beat up the team. In the meantime, villagers on hearing a hue and cry came there, exchanged harsh words with the health workers, forcing them to move away.

The villagers termed the polio campaign un-Islamic and injurious to children’s health.

On the complaint of executive district officer (health), the police registered a case against Allah Rakha, two of his sons and two others and arrested them.
