LAHORE, Oct 18: A girl shot at and wounded her lover and his friend on Double-Sarkan in Sanda on Thursday. A passerby was also injured in firing.

Police inquiries revealed that Faisal, a factory worker, had refused to marry Aasia, of Rana Town, who took it to her heart. She arranged a weapon and few bullets and opened fire on Faisal and his friend, Shakir. The firing also left a passerby, Nasir Baloch, injured.

The injured persons were taken to hospital where the condition of Nasir was stated to be critical.

Witnesses managed to capture the girl with the weapon and later handed her over to the police.

ENCOUNTER: An alleged robber was killed while a police constable was injured in an encounter near Samanabad Roundabout on Thursday.

The Samanabad police said three Mohafiz Force officials were patrolling on Poonch Road when they saw three ‘suspects’ on two motorcycles. During checking, the policemen seized two weapons from as many suspects. When constable Latif tried to frisk third suspect, he whipped out his weapon and opened fire. A bullet hit the constable’s hand.

Other policemen shot dead the shooter and overpowered his two accomplices, later identified as Ramzan and Pervaiz.

The police seized three weapons and two motorcycles from the spot and shifted the injured constable to hospital.

The killed suspect was identified as Irfan of Kot Lakhpat. His body was shifted to Mayo Hospital’s morgue.

ACCIDENT: A 45-year-old man was hit and killed by a bus near the Lahore Press Club main gate on Thursday.

Qila Gujjar Singh police said Kazim Shah of Sanda was going on a motorcycle when the bus hit him.
