ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: Special prayers were offered on Monday morning in memory of those killed in the Margalla Towers collapse during the 2005 earthquake.

The relatives and friends of the deceased, representatives from JICA, students of colleges and universities and a large number of other people participated in the prayer ceremony.

The participants laid wreaths at the site and observed silence for one minute at 8.53am to pay respect to the departed souls and share the grief of the bereaved families.

It may be recalled that 74 people were killed and 89 injured when the Oct 8, 2005, earthquake brought down one-a-half blocks of the capital's first high-rise residential complex.—APP
