Accidents claim five lives

NOWSHERA/CHARSADDA, Oct 7: Five people were killed in two road accidents in Nowshera and Charsadda on Sunday.

Nowshera police said Sadaqat Ali, his wife Nazia and two-year-old son Jaseem were killed instantly after a dumper truck collided with their motorcycle head-on near Azakhel area.

They said the family was returning home in Jaroba area of Pabbi tehsil after attending a marriage function.

Police took truck driver Awais Ali, from Kamra, the truck and motorcycles into custody and began investigation.

In Charsadda, two members of a family were killed and three injured after their car rammed into a roadside cabin in Subhan Khwar area of Shabqadar tehsil.

Police blamed speeding for the accident and said the family belonged to Mansehra district.

They said the dead people were Lal Hussain and Wahid, while the injured, including Shamsur Rehman, Shahid and Omar Sadiq, were under treatment at a local hospital.

Police registered a case and began investigation.
