Hizb flays killing of policemen

SRINAGAR, Dec 30: The Hizbul Mujahideen on Monday warned against killing local policemen in occupied Kashmir, as it would cause “unbearable loss” to the public.

“Hizbul Mujahideen condemns the killing of policemen, as such killings cause unbearable loss to Kashmiris,” the group’s chief commander of operations, Saiful Islam, told a local news agency, News and Feature Alliance (NAFA).

Islam said Hizb would find the killers of policemen and punish them.

Last week gunmen killed four unarmed policemen in Srinagar.

Jailed militant leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam also issued a statement last week condemning the policemen’s murder, saying “such innocent killings were not permitted by Islam”.

However, Ibrahim Lodhi, who claims to be the chief commander of the Al Madina Regiment, told another local news agency, Current News Service (CNS), that his group would attack any local policeman carrying weapons and frisking people on the roadside.—AFP
