KARACHI, Oct 2: A woman was shot dead in her house in Quaidabad on Tuesday night, police said.

They added that the incident took place in a shanty locality near a glass factory where three to four men came to Aurengzeb’s house. When his wife Reshma, 25, told them that her spouse was not home, they opened fire on the woman and fled.

The bullets hit the woman and her father-in-law Amirzada. The woman died on the spot while the wounded was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

The police said that Reshma and her husband originally hailed from Swat and had contracted marriage on their free will. They suspected that the murder was related to their marriage.

Young man shot dead

A young man was shot dead on Nishtar Road within the jurisdiction of the Garden police station on Tuesday, officials said.

They added that Mohammad Waqas was going on his motorcycle when four men riding two motorbikes fired at him and sped away.

The victim suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was moved to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The victim was a resident of Ranchore Lines and worked at a garments shop.

Police quoting some residents of the area said that the victim had an affair with a girl who was living in Chakiwara, Lyari and he often visited Lyari to meet her.

The police suspected that the killing might have an outcome of his alleged affair.

Wounded policeman dies

A policeman who suffered critical wounds in a gun attack in Kharadar late Monday night died during treatment in the early hours of Tuesday, officials said.

Police Constable Mohammad Babar sustained gunshot wounds along with three passers-by in the old city area.

They all were rushed to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

The constable was posted

on intelligence duty within the Kalri police remit and was returning home in Kharadar when targeted.

With this killing, the total number of policemen killed so far during this year rose to 63.

Man shot dead in Lyari

A young man was shot dead in Lyari on Tuesday evening.

Police said that Farhan Patni was sitting at a barber shop within the remit of the Baghdadi police station where assailants riding a motorcycle came, fired at him and rode away.

The victim died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The police said that the victim was living in the same area and was not affiliated with any political party.

The motive behind the murder was immediately not clear, the police said.
